New Feature: Assembly Segments for Parliamentary Constituencies in MapsPosted on July 12,2013
As promised on the launch of Maps, we have added a new feature and now we can see results of assembly segments for parliamentary election on maps. This information is now available only for 2009 Lok Sabha elections but very soon we would also update maps with assembly segment results for 2004 and 1999 Lok Sabha elections. For Lok Sabha elections held before 1999, Election Commission does not provide assembly segment level result.
One would assume that the party which has won the Lok Sabha constituency, would be leading in maximum (if not majority) of assembly segments. But analyzing Lok Sabha results at assembly segment level can be very revealing. For example, the Mumbai North East Lok Sabha constituency was won by NCP in 2009. This Lok Sabha seat has six assembly segments. NCP leads in only segment, MNS in three and BJP in two segments. But NCP won this Lok Sabha constituency, BJP was at second position and MNS at third position. This happened because NCP took a very good lead in the constituency where it was leading.
Do check this feature and please get back to us with feedback.
